UKPW Battle Of The Bay

UKPW Battle Of The Bay

Match 1

Singles Match

'The Black Rose' Cali Gray defeats Tommy Lawrence by pinfall, advancing to the Battle Of The Bay tournament final

In UKPW's first match since November 2019, Gray and Lawrence (both of whom made their UKPW debuts) were looking to impress. The contest was impressively even throughout, with Gray taking control in the middle stretch after an aggressive flurry. Lawrence used his agility to keep Gray consistently on his toes, but it was Gray who picked up this victory after a devastating maneuver.

Match 2

Singles Match

'The Wolf Of Brawl Street' Alexander Roth defeats 'Doorman' Dom Taylor by pinfall, advancing to the Battle Of The Bay tournament final

Two men, who have faced off on many occasions, clashed once again in Herne Bay. If 'The Wolf Of Brawl Street' could win the entire tournament, Roth would be able to challenge Dow Jones for the UKPW Championship that was stolen from him back in Nov 2019. Taylor stood in Roth's path, keeping the former champ down with heavy strikes and huge slams. However, despite the power of Taylor, Roth secured the win with a top rope Double Stomp.

Match 3

Singles Match

'The Last True Superstar' Stewart Shephard defeats Jake O'Grady by submission, advancing to the Battle Of The Bay tournament final

The returning 'Last True Superstar' hoped to humiliate one the next-gen wrestlers that he's come to despise. Jake O'Grady, making his debut, quickly wiped the condescending smirk off Shephard's face! Despite gaining the advantage in the middle stages of the contest, Shephard found it difficult to keep the lightning-quick O'Grady grounded. However, despite a valiant final surge from O'Grady, Shephard caught his opponent in a Figure-Four Leg Lock, making O'Grady tap out.

Match 4

Singles Match

KM Lane defeats Jack Kent by pinfall, advancing to the Battle Of The Bay tournament final

Two further debutants spared no effort to progress to the Battle Of The Bay final later on. KM Lane and Jack Kent we're mirror opposites in every metric: Lane was sportsman-like and high-flying, while Kent brought nasty holds filled with pure anger. The momentum swung back and forth in this level contest; until Lane mounted a spectacular comeback to gain the pinfall over Kent (using a springboard Spinning Heel Kick as the final blow)

After the match, enraged by his loss, Kent attacked Lane from behind and looked to snap the ligaments in Lane's knee. Event stewards pulled Kent away, but the damage was already done. KM Lane required help to leave the ringside area.

Match 5

Tag Team Match

Smart Money (Dow Jones/Fentos) defeats Heavy Metal (Buff Broadside/The Nail) by pinfall

Four UKPW regulars locked horns in a special exhibition match. Smart Money attacked Heavy Metal before the opening bell and set the tone for a considerable portion of the contest. Heavy Metal frequently fought back, gaining the advantage on many occasions. After The Nail made the tag to Buff Broadside, Smart Money couldn't stifle the momentum of the Inter-Regional Champion. Unfortunately, with Buff and Fentos spilling to the outside of the ring, Dow was able to avoid Nail's top rope Moonsault and clinch the victory for Smart Money....Herne Bay didn't like that.

Match 6

Singles Match

Mike Bird defeats Tommy Lawrence by submission

While both of these competitors also made their UKPW debuts, their prominence in British Wrestling leave very distinct impressions. Bird, a veteran of the game and head trainer of the Catch 22 Wrestling School squared up with Tommy Lawrence, a relative newcomer looking to make an mark. Bird controlled the pacing of the contest in an attempt to avoid Lawrence's athletic offense. But Lawrence wow'd the crowd with his amazing move set and put the veteran on the backfoot. However, despite Lawrence's skill and fight, Bird caught the youngster in a submission hold to win the match.

Singles Match

'The Wolf Of Brawl Street' Alexander Roth defeats Cali Gray, KM Lane, and 'The Last True Superstar' Stewart Shephard, becoming #1 Contender to the UKPW Championship

Each participant had won a qualifying match earlier in the day - none of whom were more worse-for-wear than KM Lane, who had his knee injured by Jack Kent earlier on. The match started off hot, and while Lane tried to power through the pain, Cali Gray eliminated Lane. A temporary pairing between Gray and Shephard made Roth's night more difficult. However, Roth was able to eliminate Shephard to even the odds. Gray continued to pile on the pressure and become the new #1 contender. But Roth would let nothing get in the way of challenging for the UKPW Championship once again. Roth eliminated Gray after a Superman Punch for the pinfall win.

After the match, Roth took the microphone and called out Dow Jones, but Jones never appeared...
