'The Wolf Of Brawl Street' Alexander Roth defeats 'Top Gun' Tommy Kyle by pinfall
The opening contest saw two men who have met many times before across the country. Roth, on the path to regaining the UKPW Championship, faced off against a debuting Tommy Kyle, who tried to solidify his spot by defeating the former Champion. Kyle targeted the leg in an attempt to disable Roth's explosive offensive flurries. But Roth fought through the strain to regain enough control, hitting a Superman punch for the victory.
After the match, Roth called out Dow Jones. Unlike Herne Bay, Jones answered the call, approaching Roth at ringside. However, a hooded man ran into the ring and attacked Roth. The man was Bullit. Dow says he's brought Bullit into UKPW as an insurance policy. Despite leaving the building under his own power, it was obvious that Roth was seriously hurt.
Livvii Grace defeats Kymmie A Kiss by pinfall, advancing to the UKPW Women's Championship Semi-Finals
This bout was fast-paced slugfest! Kymmie A Kiss, considered a favourite in the tournament, and Livvii Grace charged at each other on the opening bell. Kymmie gained control after a flurry as nasty offensive maneuvers, showing why many believed she would walk away as the first ever UKPW Women's Champion in November. However the veteran experience of Grace allowed the world-travelled competitor to turn the tides. With a collection of vicious knees and a DDT, Grace picked up a surprising pinfall to advance.
Harry Sefton & Rex Armstrong defeats The Business (Anton Green/'Hitman' Gabriel Myers) by pinfall
Sefton was a late replacement for Armstrong's regular partner JJ Lynch, but that didn't stop the duo from asserting themselves as a formidable team. The Business, who's new arrogant attitude and underhand tactics caused them to be showered with boos from the enthusiastic crowd, utilised their veteran experience to slow the contest down and swing the momentum in their favour. In the end, Myers and Green will be thankful that the UKPW Tag Team Titles were no longer on the line, in what must surely be considered an upset, as Harry Sefton pinned 'Mr Clean' Anton Green after a wicked double team maneuver.
Mike Bird defeats Charles Crowley by pinfall
'The Godfather of Welsh Wrestling' Mike Bird arrived in UKPW at The Battle Of The Bay and looked to make his presence felt at Press Start as he took on the spectacular Mr. Charles Crowley in singles action. Crowley is well known on the British scene for his outlandish hi-jinks as well as his wrestling ability, but neither impressed Catch22 Head Coach Bird, who again found great success with his aggressive, no nonsense approach. Despite a few creative flurries of offense and the backing of the Lordswood crowd, Crowley was no match for the Welshman, as Mike Bird plucked him out of the air before locking in the crossface for the submission win.
After the match I took a second to speak to Mike Bird myself, with him seemingly putting the rest of the UKPW roster on notice.
Cali Gray & Jack Kent defeats Jake O'Grady & KM Lane by pinfall
Next up, tensions continued to simmer as Cali Gray and Jack Kent met KM Lane and Jake O'Grady in a tag team match. All four of these men debuted in The Battle of The Bay Tournament where KM Lane sustained an injury at the hands of Jack Kent before being eliminated from the final by Cali Gray. Lane seemed to have recovered as he and O'Grady put in a highly athletic performance against their more ruthless opponents. However, KM Lane was once again the victim of underhanded tactics from Jack Kent, receiving a steel chair shot on the outside before being finished off and pinned by Cali Gray.
Evie Madden defeats Clementine by submission, advancing to the UKPW Women's Championship Semi-Finals
Our penultimate match-up of the day was the second of the day's Women's Title Tournament matches as Clementine took on 'The Locksmith' Evie Madden. Both competitors were considered among the favourites going into this one, but only one of them could advance to the next round. It was a tight contest and could have gone either way with the fans in attendance split down the middle. But it was Evie Madden that emerged victorious in the end, showing off her technical prowess and making Clementine tap out to the “Master Key”. Evie Madden moves on to the semi-finals at Tables, Ladders and Scares in Faversham on Halloween.
'Just' Joe Lando defeats Danny Black by pinfall
And finally in our main event, two of Europe's very best high-flyers faced off in an exciting, fast paced clash, as 'The Kid Without Fear' Danny Black came face to face with 'Just' Joe Lando. Lando, a last minute addition to the card, was making his UKPW debut and wasted no time in showing the UKPW faithful what he is all about with a deluge of blistering daredevil attacks. But Danny Black is no slouch and fought tooth and nail, keeping up with Lando at every turn and landing more than his fair share of offense. It came down to the wire but 'Just' Joe Lando eventually managed to get the upper hand, scoring the pinfall win after landing an insane shooting star elbow drop. This match was an instant classic and was the perfect way to round out the return of United Kingdom Pro Wrestling.
