UKPW Wildcard 2018

UKPW Wildcard 2018

Match 1

Singles Match

Cieran Donnelly defeats Danny Black by pinfall

Former UKPW Tag Team Champion, Cieran Donnelly, displayed a newer, more egotistical attitude than what was previously seen from him at UKPW. Donnelly started off strong against Black. Black's phenomenal athleticism allowed Black to gain moments of control, but Donnelly's ring IQ soon cut any momentum off. Donnelly had an answer for everything Black threw at him. However, taking his eyes off Black for a split second was very costly for Donnelly when Black seized the opportunity to mount a comeback. Black looked to hit a second rope Cutter, but Donnelly executed a devastating Superkick to win the bout.

Match 2

Singles Match

**NEW INTER-REGIONAL CHAMPION**

'The Wonderkid' Jonny Storm defeats Maverick Mayhew

Both men kicked off with impressive exchange of hold and counters, with Mayhew gaining a slight advantage after a running sequence. A number of kicks to the face and back placed the British Wrestling veteran, Storm, on the back foot. To the surprise of many, Mayhew maintained control for a significant portion of the contest. Storm gained the advantage after an extended flurry and slowed the pace down. A clash of heads levelled the competitors and brought the contest towards the closing stretch. Mayhew and Storm exchanged maneuvers and pinfall attempts, but a missed top rope Moonsault from Mayhew allowed Storm to hit the final blow for the victory.

Match 3

Tag Team Match

Old School Violence (Daz/Earl Black Jr) defeats Ashmore & David Francisco by pinfall, retaining the UKPW Tag Team Championships

Following their win against The Hitset earlier in the year, Ashmore & David Francisco looked to capture the UKPW Tag Team Championships from familiar opponents, Old School Violence. Old School Violence started off strong, outclassing Ashmore & Francisco in ground-based offense. Frustrated, the challengers tried to use a numbers advantage to gain control, but the champions had an answer. Ashmore caught Black Jr in a massive throw to finally gain control. After taking a beating from both men, Black JR created and opening to tag his partner, but Ashmore & Francisco quickly regained their lead. The challengers took their time in picking their man apart, but their arrogance created too much separation, allowing Black Jr to be tagged into the bout. Black JR threw Ashmore and Francisco around the ring, launching Ashmore outside to gain a pinfall over Francisco.

Match 4

Tables Match

Dow Jones (w/ Fentos) defeats Sid Manelli by putting Sid through a table.

Dow Jones specifically requested this contest from UKPW Officials after being sent through the commentary table at the hands of Sid Manelli at Crowing Glory. As you can imagine, this contest was chaotic from the offset. Manelli scored some offense out of the gate and followed Dow to the outside of the ring. Despite giving Dow a well deserved pasting on the outside, Dow gained control after throwing Manelli into a ring post. The action returned to the ring, were Dow introduced a table and attempted to slam Manelli through it multiple times. Fentos, who was sitting at the commentary table, got out of his set and joined the ringside area. Dow instructed to "Get The Tables", and Fentos pulled out a dozen tables from underneath the ring, setting them up everywhere. After moments of fight from Manelli, Dow decided he had enough. Dow & Fentos climbed onto the apron and set to double suplex Manelli through a table on the outside floor. Manelli fought out of their grip, hit the opposite ropes and dropkicked Fentos off the apron and through the table!!

Senior Official Martin Raymondson reminded Sid that Dow needs to go through the table, not Fentos. Raymondson carried an injured Fentos backstage. Meanwhile, Dow pulled two broken table pieces from under the ring, slammed Manelli and placed the pieces either side of Manelli. Raymondson appeared from the entrance way to see Manelli surrounded by broken wood. Dow made it look like Manelli fell through a table! As a result, the Raymondson declared that Dow won the match despite protest from Manelli and the audience in attendance!

Match 5

Singles Match

'The Wolf Of Brawl Street' Alexander Roth defeats 'Dark Wolf' Matt Walters by pinfall, retaining the UKPW Championship

Walters entered the ring holding the UKPW Championship belt, which Ashmore & Walters stole after Roth's triumphant victory at the previous event (Ring Of Fire.) Roth grabbed the microphone and told everyone "I'm the champion, and I'm taking the UKPW Championship home with me tonight." Walters was reluctant to engage with Roth after taking a flurry from Roth right out of the gate. Roth chased Walters around the ring, but as they re-entered, Walters used the referee to catch Roth off-guard. Walters initiated a violent beatdown on the UKPW Champion, but Roth took every available opportunity to mount offense. After a huge Spinebuster from Roth, both competitors traded venomous strikes and extended sequences. A missed Penalty Kick from Walters allowed Roth to hit a Superman Kick/Double Underhook DDT combination to retain his championship!

Roth's celebration was short lived when Ashmore appeared at ringside and, once again, took the UKPW Championship belt and retreated backstage!

Match 6

Tag Team Match

**NEW WUW AUSTRIAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS**

The Force ('Doorman' Dom Taylor/Officer Rogers) defeats The Tattooed Demons (Humungus/Martn Pain) by pinfall

This contest was set to be a monstrous clash between four gigantic men. In a change of attitude to their appearance at Ring Of Fire, The Tattooed Demons came to the ring with the fans on their side (probably liked because of the mutual dislike of The Force.) The Tattooed Demons grabbed the microphone saying they were happy to be in Gillingham and will finally shut The Force's mouths! The Force didn't take kindly to their words and attacked them from behind to start the fight. Though, The Demons quickly gained control and placed The Force firmly on the defensive. Humungus overpowered Taylor, a feeling Taylor is not used to, and Pain bested Rogers on the mat. Despite The Demons' extensive offensive flurry, The Force eventually took control by exploiting the numbers advantage. The Force proceeded to isolate Pain, taking turns in administering heavy offense on the Austrian. Rogers & Taylor tried to keep Pain under wraps, but the powerhouse soon created space to tag in his partner, Humungus. Humungus ran through his opponents like they were half their size, almost winning the contest on a few occasions. In the closing seconds, Rogers delivered two gigantic Powerbombs to Pain to secure the pinfall victory for his team! The Force became the new WUW Tag Team Champions.

Wildcard Match

Alexander Roth, Danny Black & Old School Violence (Daz/Earl Black Jr) defeats Cieran Donnelly, Craft Beating Club (Ashmore/'Dark Wolf' Matt Walters) & David Francisco by pinfall

Wildcard Match rules are as follows. The contest start with one man from each team. Every 2 minutes a new man enters (from one team, then the other and so on) until all men have entered. A competitor is eliminated by pinfall or submission. Last team standing wins.

The villainous team had the advantage throughout, frequently being one man up and having the numbers in their favour. At one point in the match, Danny Black was left alone against all four members of the opposition. Despite fighting back, the vultures picked at his misfortune and eliminated him from the contest. This left only Alexander Roth against Cieran Donnelly, Craft Beating Club (Ashmore/'Dark Wolf' Matt Walters) & David Francisco. Roth charged into the ring with fire in his eyes. Roth separated the men and eliminated them one-by-one, leaving only Alexander Roth and Ashmore remaining. Ashmore charged into the ring, but Roth had his number once again, landing a huge Superman Punch to eliminate the former UKPW Champion. Roth won the contest for his team! As his opponents retreated in defeat, Alexander Roth was finally presented with the UKPW Championship belt he had so rightfully earned. Roth took hold of the belt for the first time and raised it triumphantly!!
